Candle
Safety Tips
-
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
-
Keep candles away from children and pets.
-
Never burn a candle on or near flammable objects,
such as paper, clothes, furniture, and other
decorations.
-
Always keep a burning candle within sight.
Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before
going to sleep.
-
Trim candlewicks to 1/4 inch each time before
burning. Long or bent wicks cause uneven burning and
dripping.
-
Always use candleholders which are heat resistant
and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.
Be sure the candleholder is placed on a stable,
heat-resistant surface.
-
Never candles when the wax is in liquid condition.
-
When the power goes out, you can light candles but
don't carry them around. Have a flashlight if you
need to walk around and find supplies, your cell
phone or other things.
-
To extinguish a candle, dip the wick into the liquid
wax, using a nonflammable instrument. This technique
eliminates smoking of an extinguished wick.
Candle Storage
-
Always store candles in a cool, dark, dry place.
-
Do not place candles in freezer. Water will
compromise the wax.
Container candles
will contract away from the glass.
-
Candles will fade if left in the light for an
extended period of time. Never put candles in a
window or directly expose to bright outdoor light or
indoor spotlights.
